USI Information
Unique Student Identifier (USI)
A Unique Student Identifier (USI) is a reference number made up of letters and numbers that is issued to each student undertaking nationally recognised training in Australia.
Creating a USI is free, and it remains with you for life.
Why You Need a USI
The USI allows your training records and results to be securely stored in a single online system. It ensures that all your nationally recognised training completed across different providers is linked together.
Your USI enables you to:
• Access a secure online record of your training achievements
• Obtain a transcript of your VET results at any time
• Share your training records with employers or other training providers
• Maintain a lifelong record of your qualifications
USI Requirement
All students undertaking nationally recognised training at Workforce Education Institute (WEI) are required to have a valid USI.
WEI cannot issue a qualification or Statement of Attainment without a valid USI.
You must either:
• Provide your existing USI at enrolment, or
• Authorise WEI to apply for a USI on your behalf
How WEI Uses Your USI
Your USI is used to:
• Record your training outcomes
• Report your training activity to the National VET Data Collection (NCVER)
• Ensure compliance with Australian Government requirements
All personal information is handled in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 and relevant legislation.
