Student Support

At Workforce Education Institute (WEI), we are committed to supporting all students throughout their learning journey. Our student support services are designed to ensure you are well-informed, supported, and able to successfully complete your course.

Our approach is aligned with the 2025 RTO Outcome Standards (Quality Area 2), ensuring that all students receive fair, inclusive, and high-quality support services.

1. Information and Transparency
Before and during your studies, WEI ensures you receive accurate and up-to-date information about:

• Course structure, duration and requirements

• Fees, refunds and payment terms

• Assessment methods and outcomes

• Student rights and responsibilities

• Policies and procedures

We are committed to ensuring all information provided is clear, accurate and not misleading, so you can make informed decisions about your study.

2. Training Support Services
WEI provides access to a range of academic and learning support services to assist you in achieving your learning goals, including:

• Academic support from trainers and assessors

• Assistance with understanding assessment requirements

• Study skills support

• Language, Literacy, Numeracy and Digital (LLND) support

• Access to learning resources and materials

Support needs are identified from pre-enrolment and throughout your course, ensuring early intervention where required.

3. Individual Support and Reasonable Adjustment
WEI recognises that students have different learning needs.
We provide:

• Individualised support plans (where required)

• Reasonable adjustments for students with disability or additional needs

• Flexible learning and assessment arrangements (without compromising competency standards)

All support is provided in accordance with the Disability Standards for Education 2005 and WEI policies.

4. Diversity, Inclusion and Cultural Safety
WEI is committed to providing a safe and inclusive learning environment that respects diversity.
We promote:

• Equal opportunity for all students

• Cultural awareness and inclusion

• A learning environment free from discrimination, harassment or bullying

All students are treated with fairness, respect and dignity at all times.

5. Student Wellbeing and Welfare Support
Your wellbeing is important to us.
WEI supports students through:

• Welfare support and guidance

• Referrals to external professional services (if required)

• Support during personal or study-related challenges

Critical incidents are managed in accordance with WEI procedures to ensure student safety and wellbeing.

6. Course Progress Monitoring and Intervention
WEI actively monitors your course progress to support your success.
If you are identified as at risk of not meeting course progress requirements, WEI will:

• Contact you to discuss your situation

• Provide additional academic support

• Develop an intervention plan tailored to your needs

• Monitor your progress and provide ongoing support

This ensures issues are addressed early and you are supported to successfully complete your course.

7. Attendance and Engagement (International Students)
For international students, attendance and engagement are monitored as part of your overall course progress.
WEI will:
• Monitor participation in training and assessment activities
• Provide support if engagement concerns arise
• Take appropriate action in line with course progress requirements
Attendance is used as an early indicator of risk, not as the sole compliance measure.

8. Deferral, Suspension and Cancellation of Enrolment
Students may apply to defer, suspend or cancel their enrolment under certain circumstances.
WEI:
• Assesses requests fairly and consistently
• Considers compassionate or compelling circumstances
• Provides clear outcomes and reasons for decisions
International students are advised that such changes may affect their visa and may be reported via PRISMS in accordance with regulatory requirements.

9. Orientation and Induction
All students participate in an orientation program before or at the start of their course.
This includes information on:
• Course requirements
• Student support services
• Policies and procedures
• Health and safety
• Living and studying in Australia
This ensures students are fully prepared for their study journey.

10. Complaints and Appeals
WEI provides a fair, transparent and accessible complaints and appeals process.
Students have the right to:
• Lodge a complaint about any aspect of their experience
• Appeal decisions made by WEI
• Receive a timely and fair outcome
All complaints and appeals are handled in accordance with WEI policies, and students have access to external review options if required.
